The legacy of J.P. Morgan in today's financial era is enormous. A majority of the companies he consolidated and/or overwrote are still massive today. J.P. Morgan/Chase, the multinational banking and financial services holding company Morgan ran, is the world's third largest public company and is the largest U.S. bank and plays a massive role in U.S. finance. Morgan Stanley is a derivative of J.P. Morgan & Co. and still plays a huge role in multinational financial service. General Electric is still at the forefront of engineering initiatives and is the fourth largest public company in the world, and is ranked as #14 in terms of most profitable. U.S. Steel, though not the billion-dollar corporation it was in the early-1900s, is still an important company, ranked as the 15th-largest steel producer in the world.
